School Vision PDF Print
At the elementary level, it is our responsibility to build a good educational foundation that will enable life long learning to continue for students. To do this, we need to base our decisions on how students learn and develop curriculum that is responsive to the needs of students.

To continue to offer students a quality education, we need to look at learning styles, continue to promote students? self-esteem, foster cooperative learning skills, work to motivate students to accomplish sophisticated problem-solving and integrate subject areas in a realistic way while trying to create an atmosphere of excitement and fun that inspires a desire for learning.

In order for our students to be able to succeed in today?s world, they will be required to apply skills and facts learned in one area to various other areas of study. Students will need to be able to express themselves in both verbal and written expression to be effective communicators. Students also need to become better problem-solvers by approaching a problem with the appropriate strategy, solving the problem and then being able to communicate the process that was used to arrive at the solution.

Technology is and will continue to be an important tool for learning. Technology encourages student effort, the exchange of student knowledge, and amplifies what teachers are able to do with students. At the elementary level, we want students to become competent users of technology by acquiring keyboarding skills to word process efficiently, utilize the internet for project-base research. Technology will provide new ways for students to exhibit mastery of Maine Learning Results Standards in a unit of study by using power point, hyper studio and video. Our goal is to extend beyond the four walls of our schools to encourage collaboration between students and teachers in different classes, grades, and schools.

The K-4 curriculum has been developed to stress the basic concepts of educational learning for students as well as to provide extended learning opportunities that require students to use higher order thinking skills. We believe that the K-4 curriculum provides students with an excellent educational foundation from which to build upon.
